The Smart EnergyBox project is carried out with the goal of designing and implementing an innovative system for the distributed generation of electric power, storage and programmed usage in the smart grid.
The EnergyBox is designed as a container packed with devices to manage electric energy: geenrators on the roof, including with a wind turbine. The main characteristic of the EnergyBox is the use of compressed air for energy storage, making the whole system a bit inefficient w.r.t. other available approaches, BUT very environmental friendly.
The role of the research team at the Robotics Laboratory is to develop the logic to control the energy flow, from the generation to the provision to the final users. The logic is devised by means of a Finte State Machine, which was suitable for the implementation on a Programmable Control Logic (PLC) embedded in the container.
