The objective of the LUMENTILE project is to turn the classical ceramic tile into a “multifunctional electronic luminous tile” realized by large area and organic electronics.

The main role of the research team at the Robotics Laboratory is to design and implement the custom communication protocol that allows the tiles to communicate with each other in a multi-hop manner. The protocol includes the features to automatically build the “shape” of the installed tiles, and to reach each single tile with the color command that is used to change the color of the tile itself.

The team also collaborates in the design of the hardware components of the tiles.
