A lightweight, Free Software, cross-platform BitTorrent client; a terminal curses interface, web interface and command line client can connect to a running daemon to manage torrent downloads.
A bittorrent filesystem based on FUSE.
With BTFS, you can mount any .torrent file or magnet link and then use it as any read-only directory in your file tree. The contents of the files will be downloaded on-demand as they are read by applications. Tools like ls
, cat
and cp
works as expected. Applications like vlc
and mplayer
can also work without changes.
Transmission has the features you want from a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web interface, peer exchange, magnet links, DHT, µTP, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, webseed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more.
Unlike some BitTorrent clients, Transmission doesn't play games with its users to make money:
- Transmission doesn't bundle toolbars, pop-up ads, flash ads, twitter tools, or anything else.
- It doesn't hold some features back for a payware version.
- Its source code is available for anyone to review.
- We don't track our users, and our website and forums have no third-party ads or analytics.
